A warm Prosperity welcome to our new Business Development Manager, Ghazala Aziz

We’re delighted to welcome a new Business Development Manager to our expert After the Event Insurance team. Ghazala Aziz joins us, bringing a wealth of expertise from her 15-year career as a Business Development Manager in the Medico-legal industry. Ghazala has worked closely with many of the UK’s leading law firms. Her extensive network and keen understanding of the legal profession will see her working directly with new clients and raising awareness of Prosperity’s competitive policies. We spoke to Ghazala about her new role and ambitions for the future…

How did you come to work in the legal sector Ghazala, specialising in medico legal work?

When I moved to the UK from Norway, I was completely new to the legal industry. Now, almost 16 years later, I have an intricate understanding of how firms operate, what they need, and the importance of insurance in giving litigation clients access to justice.

The majority of my experience revolves around the provision of expert medical reports for medical negligence and personal injury cases, which ties in nicely with After the Events Insurance – which will be my main area of focus.

What will your day-to-day role look like? And what are the most challenging elements of your role?

My days are already very busy! Right now, my time is spent getting to know Prosperity’s numerous ATE policies inside out, so that I can confidently communicate why they sit apart from their competitors. I suppose that’s the challenging element of the job – there are a few big competitors out there, but from what I’ve learned so far, Prosperity truly offers something unique. It’s not just about the policies themselves, but how they’re administered, the simplicity and accessibility of the portal, the expertise of the team, and the fact that there’s no minimum monthly commitment required. The service offer has been directly informed by legal professionals and so for all of these reasons, Prosperity is truly serving UK firms of all sizes – the competitive premiums are an added bonus!

As well as getting to grips with the products, I’ve already been at a few networking events, and caught up with some of my existing network. Over the coming weeks I’ll spend a bit of time shadowing a few members of the team and getting to know our existing clients. Hearing their perspective on the policies and service Prosperity offers will help me to bring on new firms in the not-so-distant future!

What do you like most about your work in Business Development?

I am a people person. I like to meet new professionals, understand them, and represent a business I can speak authentically about. That’s what my focus will be – to keep raising awareness of Prosperity amongst the legal community, drive new business, and hopefully feed into our product and service offering by learning how firms interact with our policies and how we can best serve them.

We hear you’re a very busy lady outside of work. Tell us about your hobbies and what makes you tick!

I’ve got many pursuits outside of work that keep me busy! I love to cook – and will always serve up freshly cooked meals for my family. I love to run; I actually ran the Manchester Half Marathon a few years ago; and have kept it up as a hobby. On top of that I love to go to the gym and I’m also learning to swim!

I’m a keen linguist – I speak Hindi, Urdu and Norwegian as well as English. There may be another language or two to learn in my future… once I get the swimming mastered of course!
