Prosperity Insurance are an established insurance specialists with a wide range of insurance products for both companies and individuals but with a particular specialisation in After the Event legal expenses insurance (ATE).

This means that we can normally offer solicitors and their Clients ATE cover for virtually any eventuality such as:

  • Road Traffic Accidents (as a driver)
  • Road Traffic Accidents (as a passenger)
  • Road Traffic Accidents (as a pedestrian or cyclist)
  • Accidents at Work

Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses such as:

  • Repetitive Strain Injury
  • Mesothelioma
  • Carpel Tunnel Syndrome

Incidents arising as a result of:

  • Clinical Negligence

Public Liability Claims arising from:

  •  Slipping or tripping in a public place such as a shop or pavement injury caused by unsafe or unsecured signs etc.
  • Occupiers Liability Claims

But not all our Clients’ claims result from an injury.

ATE Insurance can also be used to pursue claims for matters such as:

  • Professional Negligence
  • Insolvency & Business Recovery
  • Contract Disputes
  • Shareholder Disputes
  • Contested Wills & Probate
  • Business Interruption Claims

This list is far from exhaustive and with the range of ATE facilities we have access to, we will probably be able to help solicitors and their Clients obtain access to justice and compensation without worrying about the legal costs and disbursements if the case is lost.

We typically turn around individually assessed case reviews within 3 working days for an in-principle decision.

We can offer both Delegated Authority or Individually Assessed case reviews.

Our ATE premiums are both fully deferred and self-insured.

We have NO minimum volume requirements.

Policies are accessed via an easy to use on-line Portal.

We require minimal in-life case reporting requirements.

History

  • 2016

    Prosperity Insurance is created by a solicitor, Edward Smethurst, with the aim of offering ATE insurance facilities to fellow law firms and lawyers with the desire to deliver ATE insurance cover that is designed by lawyers for lawyers and their practices.

  • 2017

    The first delegated ATE insurance facilities, mainly in the personal injury sector, are provided to 3 law firms in North West England.  A steady period of growth starts.

  • 2018

    As well as personal injury services Prosperity places a number of non-injury cases covering contractual disputes, insolvency matters and professional negligence claims.  In May Chris Kelly joins the business as Head of Sales and Business Development.  He is joined in August of the same year by Andrew Williams.

  • 2019

    The business goes from strength to strength and places an increasingly widening number of ATE insurance covers including clinical and dental negligence, housing disrepair claims and works with underwriters to create a number of specially designed facilities such as unlawful detention cover. Prosperity also launches their range of policies for conveyancing and title indemnity insurance

  • 2020

    Despite the Pandemic Prosperity continues to grow nationwide and at the end of the year is working with well in excess of 100 law firms and offers a wide range of policies covering virtually the whole spectrum of ATE insurance including Housing Disrepair, Data Breach claims and a wide range of bespoke and commercial dispute policies.

  • 2021

    Prosperity continues to grow as the UK bounces back and is working closely with lawyers looking to develop new lines of business in advance of the launch of the MOJ Official Injury Claim portal.

  • 2022

    Chris Kelly retires from the business for a well earned rest and retirement after 40 years in the insurance industry.

  • 2022

    Prosperity successfully insures a large number of diesel emissions cases with ATE insurance against the Volkswagen Group where the litigation settles for £193m.

  • 2023

     Prosperity launches its further range of ATE insurance products designed for insuring diesel vehicle emissions cases against further motor manufacturers.

  • 2023

    Two new Business Development Managers join the Prosperity business – Darren Parfitt and Mark Rayner.

  • 2024

    Prosperity continues to develop its range of conveyancing / title indemnity insurances and now offers a comprehensive suite of 36 different products at marketing leading rates.

  • 2024

    Prosperity continues to grow even further and now deals with over 220 different law firms.

  • 2024

    Given the continued growth that the business is experiencing, Ghazala Aziz joins the Prosperity business as Business Development Manager in September.

  • 2024

    Prosperity launches a new suite of Conveyancing title Indemnity insurance products aimed at the Commercial Conveyancing market.

  • 2025

    Prosperity continues to grow even further and now deals with over 250 different law firms.

  • 2025

    Given the continued growth and success that the business is experiencing, David Law joins the Prosperity business as our 4th Business Development Manager in January.
