Bringing on new expertise – David Law joins Prosperity as Business Development Manager
Over the last few years, we at Prosperity Insurance have expanded our team to bring new expertise in-house – for the benefit of our business, our partner firms, and their clients. At the beginning of this year, David Law joined Prosperity as Business Development Manager – bringing vast experience from a long-held career in insurance, with him. We had a quick chat with David to find out more about his experience, and ambitions for his new role…
Tell us a little bit about your career in insurance, so far.
My entire career has been spent in the insurance industry, with the last 15 years specifically within legal insurance, focusing on after the event insurance products for commercial litigation. As anyone in the industry will know – it’s a broad spectrum, but that’s given me a good overarching knowledge of the entire sector.
I’ve worked on all manner of cases – from smaller case values of tens of thousands of pounds, through to tens of millions of pounds. I’m well versed in working with fee earners from law firms of all sizes, Senior Counsel, funding providers, and end clients – communication is a key part of the job, and one that I thoroughly enjoy!
What will your day to day role look like?
You don’t have a career the length of mine without realising the value of networking and building strong meaningful relationships – so I’ll spend a good portion of my role networking and raising awareness of what’s so great about Prosperity Insurance. I’m genuinely interested in people (there’s nothing better than a good old-fashioned natter) so this is a part of the role I’ll relish!
I’ll also have clients and partners I’m responsible for, so I will spend time nurturing those relationships, understanding the needs there, and how we best address them in a way that sets us apart from the rest of the industry.
With extensive experience in the insurance industry, what are you looking forward to about working for Prosperity?
Prosperity Insurance “punches way above its weight”. As a smaller independent provider of After the Event insurance, Prosperity Insurance is more agile than perhaps some of its competitors, possessing and using their ability to adopt and progress new initiatives and to respond to new challenges within the litigation insurance sector quickly. Coupled with the benefit of being managed by experts with deep-rooted experience and knowledge within the industry offers Prosperity credible competitive advantage.
In the last month I’ve learned about the innovations we’re carrying out in direct response to feedback from clients, and this just shows the dynamic, progressive nature of the business.
Tell us about what makes you tick outside of the office.
I like to refer to myself as a professional ‘feet-upper’. I enjoy socialising with friends, listening to David Bowie, cooking, and following Football (I’m one of England’s few Blackburn Rovers fans, for my sins). Any time spent in good company, is time well spent in my book.
