Meet Mark Rayner – Prosperity Insurance’s in-house expert in ATE Insurance
After the Event (ATE) Insurance allows law firms to give their clients added security and protection in the instance of an unsuccessful case. In short – it takes much of the financial risk out of pursuing legal action. But as it stands, ATE Insurance isn’t readily accessible to all law firms, especially those that are smaller in size. We spoke to Business Development Manager at Prosperity Insurance, Mark Rayner, about ATE policies, their importance, and what sets Prosperity apart from competitors, as a provider of choice.
Before we talk about ATE Insurance, tell us a bit about your background and experience.
I’ve worked for a number of large, national insurance companies over the last thirty years, specializing in BTE and ATE Legal Expenses Insurance. Across the whole team, we have decades of experience in legal insurance, and we pour that experience into the services we offer.
So, why is ATE insurance important to clients and how does it strengthen a law firm’s offering?
From a client’s perspective ATE Insurance is an ideal way to minimise the risk in litigation cases. Where there’s a dispute, there are financial liabilities that individuals take on if their case were to be unsuccessful, for example the opposing party’s legal costs and any relevant disbursements. This can, understandably, put clients off pursuing a case. By making ATE Insurance available, it actively gives clients better access to justice, by adding an additional layer of protection.
ATE Insurance would usually be introduced to clients, through the law firms they’ve appointed. But to be able to offer this in an efficient manner, it’s best for firms to appoint an insurance partner and that’s where we, at Prosperity Insurance, come in.
With other insurance companies offering ATE policies, what’s different about Prosperity Insurance?
Well first of all, we’re part of a wider group with Prosperity Law LLP, so much of what we do is informed by first-hand learnings of solicitors across a number of disciplines. Our products are suited to legal firms of all sizes, and our clients benefit from the following:
- No minimum monthly volume for delegated authority schemes – making our products more accessible to smaller firms.
- All of our ATE premiums are self-insured and fully deferred until the case is settled – giving peace of mind for your clients.
- Fully delegated authority schemes, once signed up to the portal – meaning you have control over what you offer to clients, safe in the knowledge that it’s preapproved.
- A simple, user-friendly management portal with minimal bureaucracy, and minimal reporting requirements – saving you valuable time.
- Policies offered for lower % success rate than other insurance companies.
- You’ll have a dedicated point of contact who has ample experience specific to ATE Legal Expenses Insurance.
